IBADAN — As the agonizing wait for abducted victims enters its second week, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Samson Opeyemi Fatola, popularly known as Tesojue, has vehemently condemned the tragic murder of two school teachers and the continued captivity of students and staff abducted from the Ogbomosho zone of Oyo State.
Speaking through a press release made available to newsmen in Ibadan, Fatola described the prolonged crisis as a heartbreaking and unacceptable assault on the state's peace, urgently calling for a total overhauling of the security architecture of the state.
The tragic invasions, which targeted Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in the Esiele area of Oriire Local Government, resulted in the tragic murder of two school teachers, while the students and teachers are still captives a week after, plunging the affected communities into deep mourning.
Reacting to the agonizing delay in their rescue, Hon. Fatola expressed profound sorrow over the desecration of learning environments and the failure to bring the perpetrators to justice. He described the development as deeply painful for communities traditionally known for nurturing future leaders through education. The PDP standard-bearer extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the slain teachers, praying for divine strength for the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
Speaking as a concerned leader and advocate for grassroots development, Fatola noted that leaving innocent children and educators in the den of kidnappers for seven days strikes at the very heart of the community. He explained that he understands the immense struggles of teachers who dedicate their lives to shaping society, lamenting that this prolonged hostage situation is a direct assault on the future of the state and a glaring indicator of a failing security framework.
Using the medium to address the broader political and security climate, the federal lawmaker hopeful charged the good people of Oyo State to be decisive with their votes in the forthcoming elections. He urged the electorate to use their civic power to remove any government that fails to provide basic amenities and secure its citizens. Fatola emphasized that the primary constitutional responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and properties, declaring that any administration that cannot guarantee this fundamental right or swiftly rescue kidnapped school children is not worth remaining in power.
While promising a better, more responsive, and proactive representation for his constituency come 2027, Fatola called for immediate and decisive tactical action from security agencies to bring the hostages home and restore public confidence. He equally appealed to residents to remain highly vigilant and cooperate with security operatives, while offering continuous prayers for the safe and swift release of all abducted victims and divine comfort for every family affected by the crisis.
