Oyo 2027: Fatola Urges Constituents to Prioritize Voter Registration as Electioneering Period Approaches
By Seyifunmi Odunuga
IBADAN – A leading aspirant for the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Samson Opeyemi Fatola, has charged residents of the area to take full advantage of the ongoing voter registration and validation exercises, describing the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) as the ultimate tool for democratic liberation.
Popularly known as "Te s'oju e," the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made this appeal on Saturday during his official declaration to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives come 2027. Amidst cheers from supporters, Fatola emphasized that while political declarations signal intent, the actual power to install credible leadership rests solely in the hands of a registered and active electorate.
Addressing a large crowd of party faithful and stakeholders, Fatola underscored the importance of civic responsibility as the electioneering period approaches. He noted that the acquisition of a voter card is not merely a government requirement but a fundamental right and the only legitimate weapon available to the common man to demand accountability and quality representation at the National Assembly.
"Your voter card is your power and your voice," Fatola declared during his address. "As we approach the next election cycle, it is imperative that our people in Ibadan Southwest and Northwest ensure they are duly registered and that their details are correct on the preliminary register. It is only through this power that we can collectively elect leaders who truly understand the yearnings of the masses and are ready to deliver the dividends of democracy."
The aspirant further stated that his decision to run under the platform of the PDP is driven by a commitment to bridge the developmental gap in the federal constituency. He argued that for the area to witness a new era of proactive legislation and grassroots-oriented projects, the people must first empower themselves by securing their right to vote.
Fatola’s call for registration has been widely received as a timely intervention to boost civic engagement within the two local governments. Supporters at the event described the move as a reflection of a leader who values the democratic process, noting that his "Te s'oju e" philosophy is rooted in transparency and direct engagement with the people.
