Oyo 2027: National PDP disowns purported ‘Grand Alliance,’ warns against deceptive APM merger

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially distanced the party from a purported “Grand Alliance” with the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, labeling the move a fraudulent attempt to mislead party faithful.

In a statement issued from the office of the National Treasurer on Tuesday, Prince Diran Odeyemi warned that the party has not sanctioned any merger or the “Unity Mega Rally” scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

Odeyemi slammed the organizers, a group identified as the “Uncompromised PDP,” for using the “GSM Lovers” brand—a tag synonymous with Governor Seyi Makinde’s supporters—to bait unsuspecting members into the gathering. He described the unauthorized use of the Governor's branding as a deceptive tactic designed to create a false sense of legitimacy for a splinter movement.

The National Treasurer maintained that the attempt to use the ‘GSM’ brand to lure people to Mapo Hall is a deceptive tactic, stressing that the party must remain united and focused on its goals rather than being distracted by those who have chosen to stay outside the official fold.

He clarified that the PDP at the national level has no pact with the APM or any other political platform, describing the organizers as impostors acting outside the party’s constitutional framework.

Odeyemi further warned that the rally is an unsanctioned event and urged all loyal elders, stakeholders, and supporters in Oyo State to shun the gathering to protect the party’s integrity ahead of the 2027 electioneering cycle.
