Oyo 2027: Fatola disowns PDP-APM mega rally, slams ‘deceptive’ GSM branding

A leading aspirant for the Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Samson Fatola, has condemned a purported “Grand Alliance” between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), describing the move as a deceptive ploy to mislead the public.

Fatola, popularly known as “Te s’oju e,” issued a statement on Tuesday warning his supporters and party faithful to distance themselves from a “Unity Mega Rally” scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.

The rally, reportedly organized by a group calling itself the “Uncompromised PDP,” has been using the logos of both parties and the popular “GSM Lovers” tag—a brand synonymous with the supporters of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The PDP chieftain slammed the organizers for using the Governor’s brand to gain legitimacy, labeling the tactic as fraudulent.

“The attempt to use the ‘GSM’ brand to lure people to Mapo Hall is a deceptive tactic. We must remain united and focused on the developmental goals of the current administration rather than being distracted by those who have chosen to stay outside the fold,” Fatola stated.

He clarified that the official Oyo State PDP has no alliance with the APM, maintaining that Engineer Seyi Makinde remains the only recognized leader of the party in the state.

Fatola urged stakeholders and party elders in his constituency to shun the gathering, insisting that the official party structure is the only legitimate platform for political engagement as the 2027 electioneering period approaches.
