Akeem Abas Vying for NUJ Chairmanship in Oyo State Council Receives NAN MD’s Blessing

The Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mallam Ali Muhammad Ali, on Thursday visited the Agency’s Zonal Office in Ibadan, where he met with Mr. Akeem Abas, one of the leading aspirants for the position of Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.
During the visit, Mr. Abas, who is vying for the NUJ Chairmanship position in the forthcoming December election, formally presented himself to the NAN Managing Director to seek his fatherly blessing and professional guidance ahead of the polls.
The meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and encouragement, centered on the future of journalism and leadership within the Oyo State media community.
Mallam Ali commended Akeem Abas for his dedication, professionalism, and vision for a stronger and more ethical journalism practice.
He described Abas as a journalist of integrity who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the profession.
“Leadership in journalism requires both courage and character. I am impressed by your zeal and commitment to service. Keep up the good work and remain focused,” NAN Managing Director said.
In his remarks, Mr. Akeem Abas expressed deep appreciation to the NAN Managing Director for his kind words and encouragement, noting that the encounter had further strengthened his resolve to pursue reform-driven and inclusive leadership for the NUJ in Oyo State.
“I’m honoured to have received the Managing Director’s blessings today. His words inspire me to stay true to the ideals of fairness, accountability, and professionalism,” Abas said.
