SWAN MATRON OYO STATE CELEBRATES WITH FEMALE JOURNALISTS ON 2026 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

The Oyo State Matron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), *Amb. Rahmat Romoke Ayinde (Kayromlee)*, has joined female sports journalists in celebrating the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day, recognizing their courage, professionalism, and growing impact in the sports media industry.
The celebration, which highlighted the vital role women play in sports journalism, brought together female media professionals who continue to break barriers and inspire excellence within the sector.
Speaking during the celebration in Oyo State, Amb. Ayinde commended female sports journalists for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to promoting sports development through responsible reporting and storytelling. She noted that women in sports media have continued to prove that competence, passion, and professionalism know no gender boundaries.
According to her, female journalists covering sports have not only strengthened the media landscape but have also served as role models to young women aspiring to build careers in journalism and sports communication.
Amb. Ayinde emphasized that empowering women in media is essential for building a more inclusive and balanced society. She encouraged female journalists to remain focused, uphold professionalism, and continue using their platforms to inspire positive change in the sports industry.
“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we recognize the courage, professionalism, and impact of female sports journalists who continue to inspire excellence in sports media,” she stated.
The SWAN Matron also reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s participation and leadership in sports journalism, noting that increased representation of women in the field will contribute significantly to the growth of sports development in Nigeria.
Amb. Rahmat Romoke Ayinde, who is also the CEO of Kayromlee and a gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State for 2027, urged stakeholders to continue creating opportunities that will enable women to thrive and lead in various sectors of society.
The event formed part of activities marking the global celebration of International Women’s Day, a day dedicated to honoring the achievements, contributions, and progress of women across different fields.
