In a bid to promote inclusiveness and improve the welfare of residents in Oyo State, the Executive Chairman of the Water Corporation and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Hon. Elias Adeojo, has empowered no fewer than 150 beneficiaries across ten wards in Ido Local Government, Ibadan.
The empowerment programme, held at the PDP Secretariat in Ido, witnessed the distribution of support items aimed at easing the economic burden on beneficiaries and enhancing their livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Adeojo said the initiative was designed to ensure that people feel a sense of belonging and remain actively involved in the development process of the state. He noted that the gesture aligns with ongoing efforts to support the administration of Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde and sustain the achievements recorded under the Omituntun agenda, particularly as the state looks toward the realization of Omituntun 3.0.
He acknowledged the prevailing economic challenges in the country, stressing that even small acts of support can make a significant difference in people’s lives. According to him, assistance such as providing food and supporting families needs can go a long way in alleviating hardship.
“There is obvious widespread hunger in the land, and the little we can do to support our people is what we are committed to. This is beyond politics; we are placing everything in God’s hands and trusting Him to guide our affairs. Those who did not benefit today will certainly have their turn tomorrow,” he said.
Hon. Adeojo also used the occasion to appeal to aggrieved members of the PDP who may have left the party due to internal crises to return, emphasizing the importance of unity. He likened the party’s progress to a moving train, urging members to rejoin and work collectively toward a shared destination of growth and prosperity under the leadership of Governor Makinde.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Ido Local Government, Hon. Emiola Musibau, commended Adeojo’s initiative and praised his lineage, noting that his late father, Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo, was known for his generosity and commitment to the people. He added that the younger Adeojo’s efforts reflect these enduring values and will positively impact the beneficiaries.
One of the beneficiaries from Ward 4, Apete, Mrs. Adeola Ogunjimi, described the programme as commendable, applauding Hon. Adeojo for his generosity. She noted that the support received, though modest, would go a long way in meeting her needs and pledged to make judicious use of it.
