Nigeria’s political space is stirring again. From ward meetings to state caucuses, ambition is in the air as 2027 draws closer. Oyo State is no exception, and the loudest drumbeat right now is from Oyo South Senatorial District.

Oyo South spans nine LGAs, two proud territories bound by history: *Ibadan North, Ibadan South East, Ibadan South West, Ibadan North East, Ibadan North West, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, Ibarapa Central, and Ibarapa Central’s sister LGA, Ibarapa North*. Over 3 million people. Diverse needs. One seat.

Into that race steps a familiar name: *Hon. Dr. Engr. Aderemi Abasi Oseni* — currently representing Ido and Ibarapa East Federal Constituency. A self-described disciple of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oseni is making it clear: he is running for Senate, and the groundwork has already begun.

When Oseni first ran for the House of Reps, many called it a long shot. What followed was a campaign Ido and Ibarapa East still talk about. Not billboards and convoys, but boots on the ground. Ward by ward. Street by street. Polling unit by polling unit. 

Even _before_ winning, his team delivered: 

- *Infrastructure*: Graded rural roads in Ido, repaired bridges linking farm settlements, and facilitated over 25 transformers installed and energized across both LGAs

- *Human capital*: Direct empowerment for 2,000+ market men/women and artisans, targeted support for widows and the vulnerable

- *Institutions*: Classroom blocks rehabilitated, boreholes sunk for communities, financial support extended to town halls, mosques, and churches

- *Access*: An open-door approach that made “Honourable” feel less like a title and more like a phone call away

The result? A clean sweep — all 20 wards, all polling units in Ido and Ibarapa East. The National Assembly took notice. Constituents felt the difference.

*2027: Scaling Up, Not Starting Over*

Oseni’s Senate bid is framed as continuity with capacity. The argument: the same grassroots energy, but now applied to all nine LGAs of Oyo South. The same project delivery mindset, but with the leverage of the Red Chamber to attract federal attention to Ibadan–Ibarapa’s big-ticket needs:

- *Urban renewal* for Ibadan’s core LGAs — drainage, roads, markets

- *Agricultural corridors* for Ibarapa — storage, access roads, agro-processing

- *Youth and jobs* — tech hubs, skill-to-work pipelines, SME funding access

- *Voice and visibility* — ensuring Oyo South gets its fair share in Abuja

This isn’t a campaign of promises. It’s a campaign of precedent. As the slogan says: *“Step By Step.”*
