Alleged Meddling: Oyo PDP Submits to Party Structure, Dismisses Claims Against Fayose as Baseless Propaganda
By Seyifunmi Odunuga
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has broken its silence over the controversy surrounding former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, completely debunking allegations of external interference in the state's party affairs.
Speaking on behalf of the state working committee on Monday, the Oyo State PDP Organizing Secretary, Hon. Stephen Olaniyi, declared that the state chapter remains completely secure, unified, and free from any external manipulation or imposition.
Olaniyi described the statements circulating from certain solidarity groups as a calculated attempt by mischief-makers to invent a crisis where none exists, reinforcing that the party leadership under Bar. Hazim Gbolarumi is too rooted to be distracted by artificial friction.
The Organizing Secretary noted that former Governor Fayose remains a respected foundational leader within the South-West geopolitical zone who understands, respects, and works strictly within the constitutional guidelines and structures of the PDP.
"We want to state categorically that the rumors of external interference or backdoor manipulation by His Excellency, former Governor Ayodele Fayose, are entirely false, baseless, and lacking in any political gravity," Olaniyi stated.
"Oyo PDP is structurally sound. Former Governor Fayose is a disciplined party leader who believes in the supremacy of established party organs and is actively working toward the progress and cohesion of the party in the region, rather than its disruption."
Olaniyi added that the state executive council has not recorded any unauthorized interference from external actors, describing the allegations as a total figment of the imagination of political alarmists. He emphasized that the doors of the party remain open to consultative guidance from true statesmen who wish to see the party move forward ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
"Fayose remains a leader and a dedicated party man to call upon whenever strategic alignment and regional strength are required. We urge our members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State to disregard these divisive narratives, maintain total loyalty to the party's leadership, and continue working for the collective advancement of the Pacesetter State," the Organizing Secretary concluded.
