Breaking : Makinde declares for Presidency
By Seyifunmi Odunuga
The Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
In a move that has sent shockwaves through the nation’s political circles, Makinde announced his candidacy under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), effectively dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Making the declaration on Thursday during a mega rally held at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, the Governor described his ambition as the "Birth of a New Nation."
He noted that his decision to contest was fueled by the need to rescue the country from its current challenges and replicate the "Oyo State success story" at the national level.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Makinde stated that the APM provides a formidable "third force" for Nigerians who are tired of the status quo.
"Today marks the beginning of a new journey for our dear country. We are not just declaring a candidacy; we are announcing the birth of a new nation where equity, progress, and development are not just slogans but realities for every Nigerian," he said.
The declaration has already drawn massive reactions, with thousands of supporters grounding activities in the Ibadan metropolis to celebrate the Governor's move.
