The 18th memorial anniversary of the late political titan and patriarch of Oyo State politics, High Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, has continued to draw tributes from across the political spectrum, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ibadan South West Constituency 1, Hon. Taiwo Jimoh, hailing the enduring legacy of the late "Oloosa Molete."
Speaking with journalists at the commemorative event held in Ibadan, Hon. Jimoh described the late High Chief as a quintessential grassroots man whose political ideology fundamentally altered the dynamics of governance and power distribution in Oyo State. Reflecting on the impact of the late icon, Jimoh noted that Chief Adedibu’s life was defined by an uncommon spirit of philanthropy and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the ordinary citizen.
“Baba Adedibu was not just a politician; he was an institution. He was an icon and a philanthropist who lived his entire life for the people,” Jimoh remarked. “His ability to connect with the grassroots and give a voice to the voiceless changed the face of politics in this state forever. We are here today to celebrate a man who remained a man of the people until his last breath.”
The House of Assembly hopeful took the opportunity to shower praises on the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, for his role in sustaining the late patriarch’s legacy.
Jimoh commended Gbolarumi’s leadership, noting that his dedication to honoring the memory of the late kingmaker reflects the values of loyalty and consistency that the PDP aims to embody.
“I must specially appreciate Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi for his visionary leadership,” Jimoh stated. “Beyond his political stature, he has shown a remarkable commitment to mentoring the younger generation and ensuring that the foundational values of service and grassroots engagement are not forgotten. His leadership continues to be a beacon of hope for all of us within the party.”
According to Hon. Jimoh, the massive turnout at the remembrance ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring strength of the political structures built by the late High Chief. He concluded by charging party members and constituents to draw inspiration from Adedibu’s life of service, urging a collective effort toward building a more prosperous and unified Oyo State.
As the political landscape in the state continues to shift toward the next electoral cycle, Jimoh’s remarks underscore a growing emphasis within the PDP on honoring its historical roots while rallying behind Gbolarumi’s leadership to foster party unity and electoral success.
