FRACTION GONE : Diran Odeyemi, Eyim Donatus Take Over NWC Positions in Fresh INEC Portal Update

By Seyifunmi Odunuga

The leadership tussle rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic turn as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) updated its official portal, confirming Prince Diran Odeyemi and Eyim Donatus Henry as members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The recent update by the electoral umpire effectively seals the control of the party’s administrative machinery by the faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, dealing a severe blow to the camp aligned with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

According to checks on the commission’s website, INEC struck out the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro, who had been operating as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary under the Kabiru Turaki-led faction backed by Governor Makinde.

In their stead, Prince Diran Odeyemi has been officially listed as the PDP National Treasurer, while Eyim Donatus Henry takes charge as the National Financial Secretary.

Both Odeyemi and Henry emerged from the party's national convention held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, where they were elected alongside other national officers through a consensus arrangement driven by the Wike-backed faction.

With this development, INEC has cleared the lingering administrative discrepancies on its portal, which previously featured a mixed roster of executives from both warring camps that fueled prolonged leadership confusion within the opposition party.

The newly synchronized INEC roster fully validates the NWC leadership structure recognized by the Wike faction, maintaining Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed as the National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary.

The inclusion of Diran Odeyemi and Eyim Donatus on the apex electoral body's database consolidates the legal and administrative dominance of the Wike camp, effectively shifting the balance of power as the party navigates its internal crisis ahead of future political engagements.
