PDP Fires Back: Taoreed Not 'Honourable', Was Working for Makinde Camp
By Seyifunmi Odunuga
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set the record straight on Hammed Taoreed, insisting he is no Honourable Member and was allegedly working against the party from within.
The party's camp said Taoreed was one of those who allegedly teamed up with Governor Seyi Makinde's camp in the PDP to push interests contrary to the party's position.
Despite this, the PDP, a broad-based party with internal discipline, reportedly gave him the benefit of the doubt, until evidence emerged that raised serious concerns about his alleged anti-party activities.
The House of Assembly ticket earlier issued to him was subsequently withdrawn, with disciplinary measures, including possible suspension, under consideration. But Taoreed jumped ship, resigning from the party before the process could be concluded.
The PDP said the episode holds a clear lesson: membership comes with responsibility, loyalty and discipline. The party, it stressed, must remain open to all, but will not compromise its core principles or tolerate conduct capable of undermining its collective .
