Alakime, Great Minds Team Hail Oyo NUJ members for massive support, pledges purposeful leadership

The newly elected Great Minds Team of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council led by  Oyo Nuj Chairman, Akeem Abas has expressed appreciation to members of the union for the overwhelming support that secured its sweeping victory at the polls.

In a statement issued by the Director-General of the team, Comrade Lekan ‘Shobo’ Shobowale, the group said the outcome of the election was both humbling and inspiring, noting that members demonstrated remarkable unity and trust in their vision for a stronger and more professional council.

Shobowale described the triumph of the team’s Chairmanship candidate, Akeem Babatunde Abas, alongside Vice Chairman, Abiodun Atilola, and Secretary, Temidayo Adu, as a collective victory for the council.

He added that the mandate freely given by members would be treated with utmost seriousness.

He noted that the team is stepping into leadership with renewed energy and a clear sense of responsibility, driven by the desire to elevate standards and strengthen the union’s impact across the state.

According to him, the support from members has set the tone for a new chapter anchored on excellence, transparency and unity of purpose.

He assured that the Great Minds Team is fully prepared to justify the confidence reposed in it through deliberate, service-driven leadership.

The statement also extended a hand of fellowship to all other contestants, stressing that while the elections had ended, the duty to build a more united and forward-looking NUJ remained a shared obligation.

Shobowale called on stakeholders to rally behind the new leadership to shape a council where every member can thrive and every voice is valued.

“Together, we move forward,” he added.
