Despite Defeat, I Cannot Fail to Appreciate God, Oyo Nuj Members - Khalid Imran

2025 The defeated treasurer Candidate

The 2025 Oyo State NUJ election has come and gone, and as a committed participant in the democratic process, I wholeheartedly congratulate the newly elected leaders.

Their emergence is a testament to the credibility and peaceful conduct of the election. I must commend the Credentials Committee, ably led by Comrade Ismail Fasasi, for its transparency, diligence and dedication, which ultimately paved the way for the emergence of Comrade Akeem Abas as Chairman, Comrade Abiodun Atilola as Vice Chairman, and Comrade Temidayo Adu as Secretary, all of the Great Minds Team. I also congratulate my opponent, Comrade Moses Morenikeji, who secured 173 votes against my 140 in the contest for Treasurer.

In line with the scriptures, anyone who fails to appreciate fellow human beings, shows reluctance to acknowledge the greatness of God. Though I may not have emerged victorious, nothing can stop me from expressing profound gratitude to almighty God and to every individual who stood firmly with me throughout this journey. Your encouragement, support, prayers and sacrifices remain invaluable, even though the list of names is too numerous to mention.

This election was a keenly contested one, filled with challenges that tested our strength and resolve. Yet, it offered me priceless experiences, important lessons, and meaningful connections that I will forever value.

As a Muslim, I neither feel discouraged nor disappointed. Instead, I am strengthened, motivated, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the confidence reposed in me.

To the new leaders, I extend my sincere congratulations once again. I wish you success, wisdom and the courage to lead the Oyo NUJ to greater heights.
