2027: Remi Oseni Formally Declares For Oyo South Senatorial Seat, Promises To Replicate "Ido/Ibarapa Miracle" Across District

Engr. Aderemi Oseni, the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), has officially declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, vowing to bring his record of "unmatched infrastructural transformation" to the entire district.

Addressing a massive gathering of All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful, party leaders, and constituents at a high-octane declaration event in Ibadan, Oseni characterized his entry into the senatorial race as a divine assignment. He maintained that his brand of politics transcends personal gain, focusing instead on sacrifice and the creation of a better environment for the common man.

The declaration comes amid a significant strategic realignment within the Oyo APC, as the incumbent Senator for Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, recently declared his own ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election. In a show of party cohesion, Senator Alli was present as a guest of honor, alongside other heavyweights including the former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and Ambassador Florence Ajimobi.

Oseni, a seasoned structural engineer and Chairman of Step Development Limited, noted that his tenure in the Green Chamber has been defined by tangible results rather than rhetoric. He pointed to his "Step-by-Step" movement as the vehicle through which he has delivered critical infrastructure, including the construction of roads, schools, and bridges, as well as the installation of street lights across the Ido and Ibarapa axes.

“I am here to tell you that I have served, and I am ready to serve again with even greater responsibility,” Oseni told the cheering crowd. “Politics is for service, not for self-enrichment. We have stood up for the women, we have supported artisans, and through our empowerment programs, 40 youths in our constituency have been made millions to grow the local economy. This is the template we are bringing to the whole of Oyo South.”

The lawmaker, who described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his mentor and source of strength, urged the party to remain united in the face of the 2027 polls. He warned against internal divisions, stating that a united APC is unstoppable in its quest to reclaim the Pacesetter State and return the President for a second term.

Beyond infrastructure, Oseni highlighted his legislative impact in the House of Representatives, where he has championed progressive ideas and chaired the FERMA committee to ensure national road maintenance. He assured the people of Oyo South—comprising nine local government areas—that his mandate would prioritize youth employment, financial support for market women, and a "new course" of governance that puts the people first.

The event, which served as a formidable show of force for the APC, concluded with Oseni invoking spiritual prayers for the party's success and the scattering of "ungodly gatherings" against the progress of Oyo State. With his formal entry into the race, the battle for the Oyo South senatorial ticket is set to be one of the most closely watched contests in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
