Oyo PDP disowns ‘Grand Alliance’ with APM, warns supporters against Mapo Hall rally

The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially distanced itself from a purported "Grand Alliance" with the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), labeling the organizers of an upcoming mega rally as impostors.
The party’s disclaimer follows the circulation of a publicity flyer for a "Unity Mega Rally" scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan. The event, which features the logos of both the PDP and APM, was reportedly organized by a group calling itself the "Uncompromised PDP".
In a sharp reaction, the official leadership of the Oyo PDP clarified that the party has not entered into any alliance with the APM or any other political platform. The party described the organizers as a "former faction" and cautioned Elders, Leaders, Stakeholders, and "GSM Lovers" to shun the gathering.
"Our attention has been drawn to a deceptive publication calling for a rally at Mapo Hall. We wish to state clearly that Engineer Seyi Makinde remains the only recognized leader of the PDP in Oyo State," a spokesperson for the party stated.
The leadership further warned that the use of the "GSM Lovers" tag—a popular shorthand for supporters of Governor Seyi Makinde—by the organizers is a fraudulent attempt to mislead the public and create a false sense of legitimacy.
