ARE PROGRESSIVE UNION (APU) HONOURS ILLUSTRIOUS SON FOR OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE

It was a colourful and memorable event yesterday as the Are Progressive Union (APU) presented a roll-up banner to one of its illustrious sons, 

Aare Akorewolu of Are Ekiti Kingdom, Surv. Idowu Akomolede, a respected community leader and member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Are Progressive Union, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth, development, and transformation of the Are Ekiti community.

The presentation was led by the APU President, Prof. Olufemi Oke, alongside other distinguished executive members of the Union. While presenting the award, the President commended Surv. Akomolede for his unwavering commitment, selfless service, and immense contributions to the growth and transformation of Are Ekiti.

 He described him as a visionary leader who has not only championed community development but has also served as a father figure by promoting peace, resolving conflicts, and fostering unity whenever misunderstandings arose within the community.

Among the numerous landmark projects executed by Surv. Akomolede are the grading of virtually all roads within the community, the opening of new access roads, the installation of over 100 solar-powered street lights to improve security and illuminate the town, the construction of hotels to boost hospitality and tourism, the establishment of the community's first filling station, the construction of a specialist hospital to enhance healthcare delivery, and several other impactful projects that have significantly transformed the socio-economic landscape of Are Ekiti.

In his response, Surv. Idowu Akomolede expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Union for the honour bestowed upon him.

He thanked the APU for recognising his contributions to the development of the town and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to its continued growth. He stated that he fully understands the fundamental challenges confronting Are Ekiti and pledged to continue investing his resources, providing fatherly guidance, and supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, and sustainable development in the community.
