Ifon-Osun Set for Grand Finale of 2026 Odun Ade Orolu Cultural Festival

The ancient town of Ifon-Osun in Orolu Kingdom, Osun State, is set to host the grand finale of the 2026 edition of the annual Odun Ade Orolu Cultural Festival, as traditional rulers, sons and daughters of the kingdom, cultural enthusiasts and dignitaries from across Nigeria prepare to converge on the community for the celebration.

The week-long cultural festival, organised under the leadership of the Olufon of Ifon-Osun, His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Peter Oluwole Ipadeola Ilufemiloye, Akinyooye III, commenced on July 31 with the Ose Obatala Observation, featuring traditional drumming, chants and other cultural rites at the Olufon Royal Palace. The opening day also witnessed the Ayanagalu Competition, marking the beginning of activities for the annual festival.

Subsequent events have included the Traditional Worshippers' Day, debate and quiz competition, a cultural colloquium, talent hunt, novelty football match and the final football competition, all aimed at promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Orolu Kingdom while fostering unity among residents and indigenes.

The festival will climax on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Olufon Royal Palace, where the revered monarch is expected to lead the traditional rites beginning at 10:00 a.m. The grand finale will feature the symbolic wearing of the sacred crown, royal procession, traditional prayers (Iwure) and other cultural displays that have become hallmarks of the annual celebration.

A major highlight of the event will be a musical performance by renowned Fuji artiste, Alhaji Abbas Akande Obesere, who is expected to entertain guests at the climax of the festival.

Speaking on the significance of the celebration, organisers described the Odun Ade Orolu Cultural Festival as a platform for preserving the customs, traditions and values of the Orolu Kingdom while strengthening the bond among its people and projecting the community's cultural identity to the global stage.

They called on indigenes, residents, tourists and lovers of Yoruba culture to be part of the grand finale, expressing confidence that this year's edition would further reinforce the festival's status as one of the foremost traditional celebrations in Osun State.
