Hazeem Gbolarumi Celebrates the Enduring Legacy of the ‘Aristotle of Oyo Politics,’ Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu

​ As Oyo State commemorates the 18th anniversary of the passing of the late political icon, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial flagbearer for the 2027 general election, Hazeem Gbolarumi, has paid an emotional and reverent tribute to the man he describes as his mentor and the undisputed "Aristotle of Oyo Politics."

​Reflecting on the life and times of the legendary power broker, Gbolarumi—who worked closely with the late patriarch—recalled the invaluable lessons learned at the feet of a master strategist. He characterized the late kingmaker as a man of the people, a politician to the core, and a legendary philanthropist whose influence transcended mere political maneuvering to fundamentally change the landscape of governance in Nigeria.

​"Having had the privilege to work closely with Baba Adedibu, I witnessed firsthand his uncanny ability to understand the pulse of the masses," Gbolarumi stated. "He was not just a political strategist; he was a master of the grassroots who believed that power is meaningless unless it is used to serve the common man. The lessons I learned from him are the foundation upon which I build my vision for Oyo State today."

​Gbolarumi emphasized that the late Adedibu’s unique brand of populist politics—built on empathy, loyalty, and unwavering support for the vulnerable—remains the gold standard for success in the region.

 He noted that even nearly two decades after his passing, the political philosophy emanating from the historic Molete residence continues to stand the test of time, serving as a beacon for those who prioritize the welfare of the people over elite protocol.

​As the state approaches the 2027 elections, the PDP gubernatorial hopeful reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the ideals of his late mentor.

 Gbolarumi concluded by declaring that the "Aristotle of Oyo Politics" will continue to be celebrated for generations to come, promising that his own administration would be driven by the same selfless, people-focused leadership that defined the life and enduring legacy of Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu.
