PDP consolidates power as Gbolarumi receives Certificate of Return at NEC meeting

​The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday intensified its internal administrative restructuring as it formally issued a Certificate of Return to Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi at the party’s 109th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

​The event, held at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, saw a heavy gathering of party stalwarts and representatives from across the country’s 36 states. The ceremony serves as a decisive step in the opposition party’s bid to stabilize its leadership structure ahead of the 207 

​The presentation of the certificate to  Gbolarumi signals a consolidation of his standing within the party’s hierarchy. Party insiders suggest the move is intended to project a unified front as the PDP maneuvers through a complex transition phase and prepares for future electoral challenges.

​The meeting drew significant attendance from top political figures, including former Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike, whose presence at the secretariat highlighted the gravity of the internal proceedings.

​By streamlining its internal processes, the PDP is signaling a tactical pivot toward institutional order. Party officials stated that the NEC meeting was convened not only to formalize leadership but to ensure that the opposition remains a formidable force in the coming years.

 The development comes as the party attempts to navigate internal friction and solidify its candidate structure before the heat of the next election cycle begins.
